Master’s degrees in Germany are often very affordable, especially at public universities. Most public institutions charge no tuition fees, requiring students to pay only administrative costs, which are usually around €250 per semester. This fee often includes public transportation. Private universities may charge higher tuition fees, ranging from €10,000 to €20,000 per year.
Several scholarships are available for Indian students in Germany, including DAAD Scholarships, which offer monthly stipends and travel allowances. The Heinrich Böll Foundation provides financial support to students demonstrating social and political commitment. The Friedrich Ebert Foundation offers need-based scholarships. Additionally, the Deutschlandstipendium supports talented students with €300 per month, funded by both the government and private sponsors.
To study in Germany, most universities require proof of English language proficiency through tests like IELTS or TOEFL. The minimum IELTS score generally required is 6.0, but some programs, especially those at top universities, may require a higher score of 6.5 or 7.0. TOEFL scores usually need to be at least 80 (iBT).
